Hodgkinson Wraps Up Campaign with Winning Display at Athlos Meet in New York
Hodgkinson recorded her personal best of 1:54.61 last year in the British capital.
The Olympic champion concluded her 800m campaign with a win at the all-female Athlos event in New York on Friday evening.
{The current Olympic champion, who earned bronze at the World Championships last month, dominated an outstanding victory in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was just her sixth appearance in a year impacted by a muscle issue.
Compatriot and world silver medallist Georgia Bell took the runner-up spot again in 1:58.33, while St Vincent's Shafiqua M. (1:58.57) secured third place.
"I've barely raced this year so it was likely easier for me to compete and be motivated to perform," said Hodgkinson.
"The atmosphere at the event is incredible so it was extremely enjoyable."
The female-exclusive meet filled the stadium in its second edition, introducing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with musical performances and special crowns replacing traditional winners' medals.
The 23-times tennis major winner Serena W., who is married to Athlos founder Alexis O., was present to present the victors with their crowns.
Previous champions took home $60,000 (£44,603) - one of the largest prize purses in track and field.
The event also drew some of the sport's biggest names, as the Kenyan triple Olympic champion and world record holder Faith K. triumphed in the mile race, crossing the finish line in 4:17.78.
The US Brittany B., the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, won the 100m and 200m double.
